• The U.S. Borders on Canada to the north, and Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. On the east coast, the U.S. is bordered with the aid of the Atlantic Ocean, and on the west coast, it’s bordered via the Pacific Ocean.

• The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and the capital Washington, DC.

• The economy of the United States is a highly developed market economy.

• It is the world’s largest economy by nominal GDP and net wealth and the second-largest by purchasing power parity (PPP) behind China. It has the world’s fifth-highest per capita GDP (nominal) and the seventh-highest per capita GDP (PPP) in 2021.

• The United States has the most technologically powerful and innovative economy in the world. Its firms are at or near the forefront in technological advances, especially in artificial intelligence, computers, pharmaceuticals, and medical, aerospace, and military equipment. The U.S. dollar is the currency most used in international transactions and is the world’s foremost reserve currency, backed by its economy.

• The U.S. is the world’s largest importer and the second-largest exporter.

Type of Degrees offered

  • Associate Degree: Academic Degree of 2 years is awarded by Community Colleges. Completion of associate degree can lead to transfer to the remaining 2 years Bachelors Degree in high ranked university having an articulated agreement with the community college.
  • BachelorsDegree: It is Commonly known as Undergraduate Degree and the duration is of4 years. For Ex: Bachelor of Arts (B. A.) or Bachelor of Science(B.S.).
  • Masters degree: The duration generally for all the master’s courses is of 2 years. Common examples of master’s degrees are Masters of Arts (MA), Masters of Science (MS), Masters of Engineering (MEng), Masters of Business Administration. But for courses like Masters in Management, MEng. Degrees, LLM, etc. the duration may be of one year.
  • Doctorate: Commonly known as Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). The duration may range from 3-5 years. Ph.D. students need to submit a research proposal as well as must appear Standardized Test i.e. GRE/GMAT and TOEFL/IELTS for admission.

Career Opportunities

  • The USA offers a one-year (12 months) OPT, short for Optional Practical Training to its international students.
  • As part of this training, the international students are allowed to work in the States for a year.
  • STEM graduates have the benefit of availing an OPT extension of two years (24 months).
  • Therefore a total of three years(36 months).
